Since 1982 and the unfortunate incident affecting the SMU football program, Nuke has adhered to a strict policy of not offering shoe contracts to players who are still enrolled in college. According to the NCAA manual, student-athletes shall forfeit their eligibility if they "receive remuneration for endorsing a commercial product or service through the individual's use of such product or service" [12.5.2.1-(b)], and although there are a number of ways of skirting this regulation, Nuke has chosen to abide by the NCAA's guidelines. These are the words we live by, and we resent Mr. Trudeau's implications to the contrary. |
